About ShingYi

Mr. Wu Ching-Yu
Founder, Shing Yi Foundation
Founder Mr. Wu Ching-Yu believed that compassion must be expressed through charitable action and that people affected by disasters or poverty should never be overlooked. With support from fellow practitioners and several companies, he raised NT$30 million and established Shing Yi Charity Foundation on July 16, 1993 to serve society.
The Foundation promotes social welfare, ethical values, and the dignity of every person. Guided by its founder's vision, it provides long-term support to children, older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income households, organizes public-interest programs, and responds to disasters in Taiwan and abroad.
In recent years, the Foundation has established Zhongxin Food Bank locations in Taipei, New Taipei, and Tainan, providing care visits, essential supplies, and related services to financially vulnerable families.
「True spiritual practice means using this life to serve others. It must be expressed through real action, not words alone.」
Serving the public good is both the foundation and the vanguard of our mission.
From emergency relief and senior care to child welfare, we respond with empathy and fulfill our responsibility to the communities we serve.
Free traditional Chinese medicine clinics support the health needs of vulnerable people.
Home visits and practical care help families through unexpected hardship.
We respond to major natural disasters in Taiwan and abroad.
We help students in underserved areas continue learning despite financial hardship.
Programs include lifelong learning, vegetarian meals, senior appreciation, and home-cleaning support for older adults living alone.
We organize blood drives, environmental programs, correctional outreach, and vegetarian advocacy.
We train young volunteers and nurture future community-service leaders.
Children's classics programs across northern, central, and southern Taiwan nurture character development.
Ethics programs and correctional education encourage positive personal growth.
In May 2016, the first Zhongxin Food Bank opened in Wenshan District, Taipei, serving registered low-income households in need. Locations later opened in Tainan and New Taipei.
Services include care visits, food and essential supplies, emergency assistance, resource coordination, and referrals, helping families regain stability and reduce intergenerational poverty.

From one compassionate idea to a growing network of service, every step helps people in need be seen.
